While trolling through my Flickr groups I found notices in a couple discussion pages about a photojournalist in Afghanistan shot and killed by an Afghani police officer today.
The photojournalist was German photographer Anja Niedringhaus (48) who was travelling with Canadian journalist Kathy Gannon (60). Both were covering the Afghanistan elections. Latest news reports have Kathy Gannon being treated for her gunshot wounds.
Were they shot because they were the press or because they were women or both? I'm thinking probably both.
Courageous women in an insane country.
