So I'm on my way to work when I see a couple kneeling over something on Centre Street bridge. The guy was trying to take a photo of this big fella. When I asked them what they were doing, the guy figured he had found a cockroach. I thought maybe it was a June bug. The poor thing was on its last legs and died as we captured its final moments.
Add on... did a Google search and think this is a Giant Water Bug. A really, really big one that could eat birds.
Naturalist Seabrooke Leckie wrote an interesting blog about finding these Monster Bugs for the first time.
