March Against Monsanto - May 2013 - Monsanto kills

Someone on Facebook suggested that the world should hold a March Against Monsanto (for so many reasons) on Saturday May 25. Apparently over 30 cities did.  I know hundreds of concerned Calgarians responded.  I ran my little legs off following the protesters from City Hall, down 6th Avenue west to 1st Street SW, to 9th Avenue, and then back to City Hall.

Some, those who knew the issues, were there to honestly protest Monsanto. The Raging Grannies were there and you know when they show up it's serious business. : )

Still, I'm sure quite a few were only there to be part of a happening, like the young chain smoking girl carrying the skull placard, or the guy peace-signing me with a plastic Evian bottle in one hand.

Monsanto is a huge company involved in the making of fertilizer chemicals, seed production (particularly genetically modified alfalfa which Monsanto lawyers vehemently protect), and (according to some protest posters) chemical weapons.
